Man dies after being hit by an express train in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: A man died after he was run over by an express train in Guchil 7, Kuala Krai.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said that the man in his 40s, was run over at 10.50am yesterday.

The man suffered serious injuries on his head and had his left leg severed after he was run over by the Senandung Timur Express service train heading towards Tumpat. He died on the spot.

Our initial investigations showed that the man was walking in the middle of the train tracks when he was hit. He did not leave the tracks although the train driver had sounded the whistle several times.

We are now trying to identify the victim and look for his family or anyone who knew him. The body has been sent to Kuala Krai Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement.

In an unrelated development, police in Gua Musang detained 39-year-old woman and her 15-year-old son for drug possession. They were arrested at a house in Kampung Sungai Terah Land Development Scheme at 7am.
