KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia claimed their first win in Pool E match of
the World Squash Federation (WSF) Men's World Team Championship held in
Mulhouse, France, Sunday.
The Malaysian players defeated Botswana 2-1 in their first match.
Malaysia claimed the first point through Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan who
defeated Lekgotla Mosope in straight set of 11-6, 11-4 and 11-5.
Botswana leveled the score when their first seed player Alister Walker
beat Ong Beng Hee in straight set of 11-3, 11-8 and 11-9.
The winning point for Malaysia came through Muhd Asyraf Azan when he beat Koketo Ntshebe, 11-3, 11-4 and 11-6.
"The first match is always the toughest. Alister was playing very well,
and it was hot and bouncy. It's very hard for everybody, the PSA season
is over, and to try and stay switched on just for the team even is not
an easy task, more mentally than everything else.
"New Zealand, is a big encounter tomorrow," said Beng Hee as quoted in the tournament blog.
Malaysia will meet New Zealand tomorrow in their Pool E second round robin match before playing against Poland on June 11.
